BRIGADA NEWS PHILIPPINES, otherwise known as Brigada News for brevity, is the number 1 local daily newspaper in Mindanao. It is one of the fastest growing local daily newspapers in the country today.

Since its inception on October 18, 2005, Brigada News has registered very remarkable growth from a very small capital which makes it as the most successful daily local newspaper. From its humble beginnings in General Santos City in South Cotabato, Brigada News is now being circulated in almost all cities and strategic areas in Mindanao. It has three local production sites, namely, General Santos City for Central Mindanao circulation, Davao City for Southern Mindanao circulation, and Cagayan de Oro City for Northern Mindanao circulation which allows Brigada News to publish three different banner news headlines daily as may be relevant to the local issues, news and events in the said three areas of circulation. This is also the reason why it will be hard to find a copy of Brigada News in the newsstands after 10 o’clock in the morning as it sells like hotcake.

While other newspapers commonly source their income from advertisements, Brigada News’ situation is peculiarly different as it draws its lifeblood, foundation and strength in its very wide circulation. By sheer circulation, it is able to cover its overheads cost and even post remarkable margin of return. Hence, it becomes a significant advantage for advertisers to place their ads materials with Brigada News because of the wide circulation and patronage it enjoys among the C,D, and E readers.

The latest independent survey conducted by the students of the Mass Communications Department of the prestigious Catholic-run Notre Dame of Dadiangas University in General Santos City shows that Brigada news is the number one newspaper in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos (Socsksargen) area in terms of circulation and even bested some national broadsheets and Manila-based tabloids with big difference.

Brigada News has a centralized business operations operating from its main office in General Santos City. All transactions on advertisements, circulation orders and payments, accounting and human resource matters and other company-related undertakings conducted in its main office.

On the other hand, news writing of local news, layout, and other editorial matters including the printing of the newspaper are locally done in three different production offices in Gensan, Davao and Cagayan de Oro.

To ensure that its contents are readily understandable and can be handily appreciated by its target readers – the masses – Brigada News uses the Cebuano-Bisaya dialect in its news items, editorial, opinion, and articles. Eighty percent of its content is local news, and the remaining twenty percent is allocated to national news, world events, sports, showbiz, horoscope and other entertainment purposes. Counting as Brigada News’ hottest attraction to subscribers is its number guide on PCSO Lotto which is published alongside the PCSO Lotto daily draw results.
